Terms of use: Road to Selah

These terms govern your use of Road to Selah (“the App”), published by FatherXLdn (“we”, “us”, “our”). By downloading or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

The App

Road to Selah is a chronological Bible reading and narration app. It offers free access to narrated Bible chapters and, for subscribers, AI-generated passage explanations and a question-and-answer feature (“Selah”). The free and paid features available to you at any given time are described within the App.

Subscriptions and billing

Selah requires an active subscription. Subscriptions are offered on a monthly or annual basis and are processed through the platform store from which you downloaded the App (Apple App Store or Google Play). By subscribing you agree to the billing terms of that store in addition to these terms.

  • Payment. Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
  • Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation. You can cancel at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; no partial refunds are issued for unused time unless required by applicable law.
  • Price changes. We may change subscription prices. Where required by law or platform policy, we will give you advance notice and the opportunity to cancel before any increase takes effect.
  • Refunds. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their respective policies. We have no ability to issue refunds directly.

Acceptable use

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. You must not:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
  • Use the App in any way that could damage, overload, or impair our backend services.
  • Attempt to circumvent subscription checks or access paid features without an active subscription.
  • Use the App in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

AI features

Selah uses AI to generate Bible passage explanations and answers to your questions. These responses are generated automatically and are not reviewed by us before delivery. They are provided for personal reflection and study only, not as theological authority, pastoral advice, or a substitute for professional or spiritual guidance. We make no warranty that AI responses are accurate, complete, or free from error. You are responsible for how you interpret and act on them.

Intellectual property

The App and its original content (excluding Bible text and AI-generated responses) are owned by FatherXLdn and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Bible text displayed in the App is sourced from public-domain or openly-licensed translations and remains subject to the terms of those licences. AI-generated responses are produced dynamically and we make no copyright claim over them.

Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from loss of data.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FatherXLdn will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or the App will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other matter that cannot be excluded by law.

Third-party services

The App integrates with third-party services including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Anthropic, Railway, and Bible text providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for the content, availability, or practices of any third party.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you breach these terms or if we decide to discontinue the App. You may stop using the App at any time. On termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimer of warranties, and limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings in local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the changes are material, notify you within the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
